At St. Mary the Virgin, Monkseaton, we aim to offer a welcome to all members of the community, to provide a still centre in a turbulent world, and to share the good news of Jesus Christ about abundant life.
We have a variety of services, organisations, activities and events, the focus of which is our Sunday worship at 8 am, 10 am and 6 pm.
In 2011 we celebrate 100 years of Christian worship on our church site and 80 years of our current building. We have designated this year as a Year of Spiritual Pilgrimage which will culminate in a Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostella in June 2012.
We are very excited that we are embarking on a major re-ordering project to make our church more relevant for worship and other activities in the 21st century.
We’d like to invite you to look in on us sometime, either at a church service, or at one of the many events and social activities that take place in our buildings. Please look at our Calendar for details of services both on Sundays and during the week, as well as other events taking place a St. Mary's.
We hope you will feel that we’re here for you, even if you don’t much fancy the idea of religion! However, if you are after spiritual help or encouragement of any kind, you’ll certainly find a warm and sympathetic response.
