Sue Scott RIP

It is with sadness we announce the death of Sue Scott.

Bishop Martin writes:

It is with deep sadness that I write to inform the clergy and people of the Diocese of the untimely death of Sue Scott on the 28th January, 2011. Sue had been unwell in recent months, but her condition deteriorated rapidly over the last few days and she died peacefully in hospital last Friday afternoon.

Sue served the Diocese with distinction over these last eleven years as Diocesan Communications Officer and Editor of the Link. The people of the Diocese – her colleagues in Church House, her many friends in the parishes and members of the Bishop’s Council, the Communications Committee, the Mothers Union and especially the people of St. Mary’s Monkseaton – mourn her passing and give thanks for Sue’s faithful life, for her skills as a writer, journalist and editor, which Sue saw as her vocation, and perhaps above all for her wisdom, her faith and for her friendship which she shared liberally with all she met.

A Memorial service will be held at 12.30pm at St Mary’s Church, Monkseaton on Monday 7th February, following a private cremation.

Pete, Amy and Dan and the rest of her family know that they are being held in our prayers. We will miss her dearly and commend her to the love and grace of Almighty God.

+ Martin Newcastle
