Pledging Scheme

PLEDGING SCHEME

Launched on 20th November 2011 to raise £250,000 to finance the continued renovation of our much loved church, the Pledging Scheme has got off to a good start.  The Working Party has been pleasantly surprised by the number of pledges already received and the interest shown in this appeal.

PLEDGING SCHEME UPDATE

“WILL YOU STEP-UP TO THE PLATE?”

The Pledging Scheme has now moved into its main phase, as the Working Party seeks to reach all the regular worshippers at St Mary’s and those with more tenuous connections who wish to see St Mary’s continue to work for the people in the parish.

This phase centres on House Meetings at which William, Ruth and Bryan lead a discussion on the Pledging Scheme and its aim to raise £250,000 to enable essential renovation of the church to continue.  Photographs of how the church will look, after the approved plans have been brought to life, demonstrate how worthwhile the Scheme is.

Hosting one of these meetings is easy.  You don’t have to ask people for money, you don’t have to be familiar with the proposals or the scheme, so you don’t have to talk about it beforehand.  All you need to do is invite up to seven interested people to your house to learn about the proposals.

Once your guests have arrived and been welcomed, William, Ruth and Bryan will take over, outlining the scheme, displaying the photographs and responding to questions.  Tea and biscuits follow and guests depart to ponder whether or not they will respond to the Scheme.

Renovation of the church, including redecoration, rewiring and renewing the 80 year old heating system, depends on the success of the Pledging Scheme.  Neither the Diocese nor St Mary’s have the funds to pay for this work.  There is no Plan B!

So what’s stopping you?  Tell William, Ruth or Bryan you’ll host a House Meeting – we are available for two meetings per week from now to the end of June.  Together we can make this happen - but we can’t do it on our own.  Let us all have a church building we can be proud of again.
